ALPHABET SOUP - TYPEFACE

(NEAR) FINAL DESIGN DONE!

I had a productive hour or so just now. I went over helvetica bold, in pencil, the rubber was my friend until I was reasonably happy with it. Then I went over it in fineliner.

One thing I quite liked from the progress crit was Martins subtle approach to the design. Every little nuance of the letterform was symbolic of something about his partners character. I did the same thing with these letterforms, little things like for example it being lowercase but actuall quite bold and flamboyant is representative of Steph's quiet exterior but she's actually quite interesting and bubbly. It might sound like I'm chatting out of my a*se but I can assure you I did think of all this! I'll go more in depth into this once I've got it into the computer and worked it all out and seen what they look like in line, and in context.

Another feature is the oversized stems of some of the letterforms, eg, m, n and u. This is so when typed up in a line it adds an unpredictable quality to the feel of it. I like this and I think it represents Steph too, she's much more interesting than you'd think. Not that I didn't think you already weren't interesting Stepheh!

Also as you'll hopefully notice I paid careful attention to the stems and the serif type edges, I tried to standardise alot of the little features, as you should anyway.

Anyways here you go:
