RELIGIONS BY COUNTRIES/CONTINENTS

As I'm still looking at Christian weddings still and not weddings for different religions and cultures and everything else, I think to save me going too deep down one hole, I'll look into the countries/continents that are interesting in terms of the numbers of Christians there, compared to other religions and look into the ceremonies there.

I think for example comparing Christian weddings in India, to England, the general theme is the same but there are little cultural differences such as no kissing, as it's taboo in India to kiss in public really (I remember a big fuss about Richard Gere kissing Shilpa Shetty in public in India and the massive amount of negative attention Gere got, I'll look into taboo's for countries too)

Source for this info is: Wikipedia

To be efficient and have more time to research other aspects -I'm only going to plan to look into the general information about weddings for these religions. As obviously, on a worldwide scale - these are the main religions.

You can see here the importance of religion across the world, clearly you can see that religion plays a huge part in society in Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and South America. It'll be interesting to find out why that is.

  • North Africa is basically mainly Sunni Mislam
  • Is is the middle Eastern region, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc
  • What are the differences between Sunni Muslim and Shi'ite muslims?
  • Most of the Uk is either Catholic or Protestant
  • Russia is mainly Orthodox christianity, what are the main differences?
  • Australia is also prevalently Catholic and Protestant, will be interesting to see how weddings pan out their too, seen as the culture is very similar apparently to England
  • Hinduism is only really prominent in India
  • Indonesia and that sort region is mainly Sunni Muslim
  • China/ Hong Kong/Far East region is mainly variations of buddism and Chinese Religion

  • Countries like Somalia are 99.9% muslim based on 2007 figures
  • Conversion by muslims to another religion actually carries a death penalty in Saudi Arabia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Status_of_religious_freedom_in_Saudi_Arabia
