FILM POSTERS OF THE 70S

In the 70's, compared to to the past there was many new technologies that were fascinating the masses. E.g. Space travel, space, science fiction, extraterrestrial stuff, women were sexualised even more. Star Wars, Alien, etc. The type of movies that were blockbusters were usually different genres and styles compared to the 50s and 60s.

It was the main kickstart of the blaxploitation and grindhouse era of movies. Where the girls basically kicked ass with not much on. Pam Grier is one of the most famous blaxkploitation era actresses, it was also in the same sort of time as the black equal rights movement. Martin Luther King etc, films with black casts were also taking off. Blaxploitation stuff was huge. The style of the photos also changed, whereas before a more abstract approach was taken, posters were now more photorealistic and used photos and computer style editing alot more frequently.

Films on the whole alot darker and grim in content and posters reflect that with colour palettes etc.

disaster movies...
