Verbal Acrobatics: Vinyl cover experiment

Been a bit tough to find a decent concept for the Verbal Acrobatics logo, I have too many ideas swanning around in my head and nothing really that decent.

I decided to try out a systematic approach. The plan is to have one sleeve for the 80s and one for the 90s.

I'm going to have a maximum of 4 records in each sleeve along with the accompanying typographic posters. So I tried an experiment here where I overlaid the 4 album covers in varying transparancies and blending styles and then manipulated the resulting image, to get quite a cool marbly texture. This is more of a sophisticated clean look, but I feel there's definitely something there if I be more experimental with the type, I don't want to focus on the logo too much as there's a substantial amount of designing to do for the posters, digital animated posters and website, along with promotion and distribution.

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
Run DMC
NWA - Straight Outta Comption
Eric B and Rakim - Paid In Full

I like this approach for the vinyl covers, as I can literally incorporate the songs themselves into the textures, so I can do the same for the 90s and there's a subtle reference there. Moving forward I want to nail the typographic logo for the project by this week and incorporate with the textures, I hope to be able to blind deboss the logo on the actual sleeves themselves for an extra bit of finish to the product. Still not 100% happy with it though, but worthwhile experiment.
