Here are some progress photos of my final 10 chosen letterforms. I sketched out ideas on the grid of Helvetica Bold A's I printed out. I think this was a good idea and worked quite well. It clearly shows how I developed Helvetica into other letterforms.
I then went on illustrator and played around with these and made a sort of "final" version of each design. The finals have to be handmade though. I tried tracing paper with it, as you can see on the photo with the tracing paper A and the printed A side by side.
I didn't really like the way this worked so I got on the lightbox and completed the set as shown on the photos.
As it stands, I have a set of 10. I'm not completely happy with them though, if I have time tomorrow mornin I might experiment with creating another handmade set in possibly a more interesting way.
I'm also going to hopefully do a pre-crit evaluation tomorrow and think about what worked well and not so well.
