Alphabet Soup - Typeface

On monday we got our studio brief for Alphabet Soup/Typeface. The aim of the brief is to design a typeface for a full alphabet and glyphs (a to z, !, ?, @, £, :, .) that represents the personality/character of you partner. You will discover their personality/character through a series of set questions.

I was paired with Steph, which has handy because she's also in my blog group. We interviewed each other to get a better look at their personaltiy and character. Here are the questions and answers...

When were you happiest?
When I got a dog called Misty

What is your greatest fear?
Getting lost abroad

What is you earliest memory?
Went centre parks. We hired bikes, I was cycling down a hill, I was screaming. Daisy's fell off my top, I had no brakes, my dad caught me and my daisys fell off.

Which living person do you most admire, and why?
My mum, she does everything for me and she's really caring.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I worry alot

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Rudeness, cockiness

What's the most expensive thing you've bought?
An iPod dock, like 800 quid or summat for her boyfriend

What is your most treasured possessions?
My nani's ring. It's massive for her but she still keep it.

Australia

What would your super power be?
Fly

What makes you unhappy?
Animal cruelty, like the SPOILERS! dog dying SPOILERS! in I Am Legend

What is your favourite smell?
Sun creme, reminds me of holidays, petrol smell

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?
A wooly mammoth.


What is your most unappealing habit?
Biting my nails.

What is the worst thing anyone's ever said to you?
"You look like.." "Fat"

Which living person do you most despise and why?
Kerry Katona. Hate her. Loud and the way she talks, annoys me.

Which phrase do you most overuse?
Let's do this shit!

What has been your biggest disappointment?
Supposed to be going America but it was sisters last year and she couldn't go, so no one went and I was really disappointed.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?
Got a job sooner and younger.


What do you consider your greatest achievement?
When I got the highest grades in college.

The general points I've took away from the interview and my past experience with Steph is that she's very neat and organised. She usually re-does notes etc just because the originals don't look "neat", so this is something to think about in terms of the typeface. I don't want it to look too sort of neat, because I still need to make it look feminine as Steph is quite "girleh". She's very laidback, smily and bubbly and she clearly loves travelling, and I assume, has travelled alot. Her country of choice to live in is also Australia. This was quite helpful and all the points and observations made will definitely help towards making the typeface.
