DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Last Tuesday we were looking at design principles with Fred, paying close attention to typefaces, serifs, why we have serifs, the evolution of type, letterpress, etc. It was really interesting.

In preparation of the session we collected 5 different letters, e.g, A, M, F, T, R. We collected them at uppercase and lowercase and photocopied them to different sizes. As part of the task in the session, we cut these up and created now letterforms out of each feature of the collected typefaces. To make it clearer, here are some pictures.

In preparation for the next session, I will consolidate 5 different letters/letterforms and, again, photocopy these to different sizes, ready to work with.
