Here is a collection of modern day film posters. A mixture of good and bad, you can be the judge of that! I think every era had it's fair share of bad stuff. we can maybe be more critical of modern day stuff because we live in this era. People in past decades probably thought the same thing we do. It is clear though that the rise of the computer and the ability to knock up a poster in a matter of minutes has changed the way posters are made. In places, maybe abit lazy. Every era has it's "in" style aswell, just as we do now. Some things still remain though. Here are some that I really like, and some not so much.
I think as good and fancy as some of the computer effects on some of the posters, I personally enjoy the ones that may have used a computer at some point (how can you not nowadays), but it's not really evident. The one's that are clear, concise and bold but at the same time reference a past style and era. A postmodernist approach maybe?
I really like the one below for example. Woody Allens's Midnight In Paris. it's just really interesting to look at and captures the mood of the film.
