About time I started working on the record cover packaging now that I've finished the posters which will go inside, it's important I have the record sleeve Verbal Acrobatics package finished by this week so I can take some nice product photographs of the material for the website and start working on the digital stuff
Here are some existing record covers which directly inspired mine in terms of font choice and composition...
Dimensions of the front cover = 360mm x 360mm, the thickness of the net as planned for now is 20mm as it will house 3 folded posters and 3 12" records.
I'm continuing with the theme of almost 'undesigning' the cover so it's as if some rapper in his attic designed the cover with stretched text and inconsistent typeface selection to go with the grungy 90's hip-hop scene before everything became glossy and overproduced as it is now!
##Final design:
The green circle in the top left is actually a sticker I will make and stick on the record sleeve to add a more tactile and real world aesthetic to the product as I envisage this being sold in record stores, and the sticker acts as a sort of special edition seal. "Also includes 3 typographic posters!"
Now to get the back cover, spine and net finished along with the stickers. I plan on having stickers stuck on the back of each poster too so when the user pulls the posters out, the stickers inform them of the song in question.
