COLOUR THEORY: ITTENS CONTRASTS

Here are some initial photos to we took in the workshop a while back once we had learnt about Itten's 7 contrasts and tried to see the contrasts in action ourselves.

Itten's 7 contrasts are:

• Contrast of tone
• Contrast of hue
• Contrast of saturation
• Contrast of extension
• Contrast of temperature
• Complementary contrast
• Simultaneous contrast

It was a good starting point for the task we've been set to look into these contrasts further with our favourite pantone colours, which we will colour match with physical objects, in preparation for the task.

You can see here just how much a colour can change once printed, and on the screen. These are my favourite pantones which I printed out so it'd be easier to compare to objects with paper in hand but the difference is quite substantial.
