Verbal Acrobatics: Can I Kick It?

I've been working on my A Tribe Called Quest poster today, I've been focusing more on my D&AD project than the ISTD one which may lead to some time constraints for this project, but I'm confident if I set time aside I can achieve my goal with this in terms of quantity of posters and record sleeves. This is number 1 of what was a planned 6!

This is my original layout I was going to draw and go a bit crazy over:

I took a step back and realised I just didnt't like this for some reason, it was too rigid and I didn't feel comfortable with it. So I drew this up really quickly while listening to the song to hopefully just get the lyrics and vibe down as I felt it, to get a sketchy wireframe to work over:

You can sort of see how the general composition relates to the finished piece

Above is what I ended up with which I'm far more happy with and it's a lot more playful and more movement about it which helps to capture the vibe of the song. I was careful to use the colour palette widely used throughout ATCQ visual material, predomoninatly red and green, with touches of yellow and sometimes blue, as seen on these:

The posters will be printed on satin and folded up so here's how an idea of how it will hopefully look for the finished product.

Some process screenshots to see how I worked over typed and manipulated text by hand to get a good outline to work over and so on
